Commander Chuck Norred

On behalf of the Army of the Trans-Mississippi
I bring you greetings:

Gentlemen

Welcome, and thank you for visiting our new ATM web-site. I hope you find it very interesting and helpful. I want to thank Commander Chuck Durnett for taking this project on as he has. I know it is not easy to maintain a web-site especially to the scope that we would like to have one.

The collection of Confederate data and especially gravesite information is a monumental goal of the SCV. We need in our possession anything and everything Confederate so that we might pass it onto our descendents. I pray that our children’s children and their children’s children believe and understand the true meaning of “The Charge” that Stephen Dill Lee set for us many years ago. In order that they more fully understand, I think it is our duty to teach the meaning to each and every member. We shall begin to do that with the ATM newsletter and the ATM web-site.

Let us all take this on as a challenge and make this web-site the most worthwhile within the SCV.   As an individual SCV member, please post your ancestor and his gravesite location. I also call out to each Camp within the ATM to please post your local Confederate Veterans either within your city or county. If you have it on hard copy please get it to me and I will have it posted for you. We have men willing to do the typing. If you have a member or friend who is responsible for getting the information to you or your Camp please indicate and we will see that that person gets recognition for his or her contributions.

I am proud to be part of the Army-of-Trans-Mississippi.  The Sons of Confederate Veterans is a special organization that will live forever. Please become a working tool for our new web-site and pass information on to our editor and webmaster Compatriot Chuck Durnett "AR Division Commander" ardivscv@aristotle.net   about the activities of your Camp and Division.

Please feel free to call or email me at any time. I am here as your servant and will get back to you as soon as I possibly can. This web-site will be a wonderful recruiting tool. If you have any suggestions please contact me or Chuck Durnett our webmaster.
